The following is the saga of Stacey's flight to New York. If you would like more of a reader's digest, please skip to the last paragraph.
This past Tuesday was crazy and a little stressing. I had my last day of work at BYU Independent Study. I was really sad to say goodbye, and it doesn't feel like I've really left yet. But I'm hoping to get my job back for winter semester. I then had to finish packing, move out all my stuff, do my cleaning, and then proceed to turn around and do laundry and pack for my flight the following morning.
That night when I was pretty much packed, things turned a little ugly. I got an upset stomach from something I probably ate, and throughout the night I desperately wanted to throw up but it wasn't coming. I felt utterly miserable and I was not looking forward to traveling all day alone, switching flights at airports I've never been to, probably throwing up next to strangers, and all that jazz.
My mom and I didn't know what to do, so we decided to drive to the airport and see how I felt. I didn't feel worse so I decided to just GO FOR IT!!! I checked in my bag at Delta. While waiting for my mom to come in from parking her car, I looked up at the screen and saw my happy little flight was delayed. an hour and a half!!!! "uh.....my layover isn't that long, that will make me miss my connecting flight!!" I talked to a really great lady at the desk who then proceeded to try to find me another way there. Consulted with my mom, and decided to still go that same day. Got rerouted through Atlanta, Georgia the lady offered to give my mom a pass so she could go past security and in with me to the terminal.
As we waited for my flight, my stomach was really giving me an excruciating time, and I just wanted to get on the plane so I could throw up in front of a few people instead of hundreds. I was praying so hard, and when I said bye to my mom, I felt so helpless and scared, wishing more than anything I wasn't about to go by myself.
So on the flight I had a SUPER cute guy sitting next to me. I proceeded to check for the barf bag in the seat back pocket. Of course there wasn't one there and I had to ask the cute guy if he had one. hahaha. Real attractive. I then apologized in advance for any throwing up I might do, and he was really nice about the whole thing. Ironically, as soon as I sat down on the plane I was feeling night and day better. I actually felt fine enough to read! Thank heavens for prayers and blessings! I didn't throw up the entire trip, and I was well enough to read/watch the t.v. Another blessing, not having to use the airplane toilet! ;)
At Atlanta, I checked the monitor and there were two flights going to JFK, and I wasn't 100% positive which one was mine. But of course the one that looked most like mine was in a different terminal, I took off fast-walking since it said the plane was already there. Made it there right when they started boarding, got my pass, and off I went on my next flight. This flight was special because I was in the first row behind first class and the aisle shifted over starting with me. Therefore practically everyone had to navigate around me, including the food cart which was interesting- watching the flight attendant trying not to hit me.
Moral of story, I made it to the JFK airport. I didn't get too much of a sense of how vast it was from where I got out of the plane. But it felt like I had to walk forever to get to the baggage claim, where Heidi and her mom were there to greet me! I made it. And so did my bag!! After being told my bag would probably be late because of the switch a roo of flights, it was there! We traveled onto Redding, CT which is a beautiful place. I met all three of Heidi's younger brothers, talked some, and went to bed.

okay can i just laugh at how of COURSE a super cute boy would sit by you while you feel like you're about to puke, and that is the only time a super cute boy like that will ever sit by you... well, maybe that's just me haha. yeah definitely just me. also i am married now so i already have an extremely handsome man. what i am trying to say is that i am a rambler. um anyway.
hahaha I know, I thought the whole thing was hilarious while it was happening. Probably the last time I will sit next to a cute boy on a flight. And it being such casual cheerful conversation "do you have a throw up back in your seat?" "oh! let me check!"
