Happy Birthday to Tiare!

Since I didn't blog all school year, this is a great occasion to celebrate one of the best things that happened. My roommates! And today, we get to celebrate the birth of my beloved roommate Tiare....

This past year Tiare was my room-roommate which definitely was one of the reasons it has been my favorite year of college to date. I had the best set of roommates and we had no drama whatsoever. Actually...wait...Tiare and I constantly had to break up fights between Michelle and Jane over who was more perfect...It really is a miracle that I ended up as Tiare's roommate. Looking back at the chain of events that led up to it, it's definitely a blessing that Heavenly Father had in store for me. Heavenly Father knew how much I needed my roommates this year, and I have been so blessed by knowing them!
Tiare and I met during our anatomy lab....2ish years ago. Nothing like bonding over cadavers and stressful quizzes! :) I thought Tiare was sooo cool, and I loved the chances I got to talk to her when we were in lab together. She actually drove me home one late night, which I had forgotten about until now. Who knew that we would later be roommates! After she came with her brother to one of our ward activities, we discovered that her brother was dating my roommate! And they ended up getting married, that was fun. Near the end of the semester, people were talking about in class what they were doing for the summer. Tiare was working at IS, and I asked her if they were hiring. She said yes, gave me the e-mail, and because of her, I got my job at Independent Study! Woot woot. We were never super close friends at work, but the days that we did end up sitting next to each other on the phones were fun. Last year when it was housing season, I happened to be sitting next to Tiare when she was looking at housing. (I was planning on living with my friend Heidi, but she started planning on doing a field study abroad. So during the time period where she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to go or not, I had to start trying to find housing solo). I asked Tiare where she was looking, and I joked about following her to her new ward just like I followed her to work. A few weeks later, she passed me at work one day, asked if I had found housing because her apartment now had an open spot. I went and looked at it and got it. I was so excited! Best thing ever, because I gained three of the best roommates! I was unsure of what it would be like as roommates, but it turned out great! I am so thankful that Tiare reached out to me. And now we ARE super close friends!
Throwing an impromptu 2-man surprise bday party for our roommate Jane for when she home from a date. Loved that we made enough noise that her date later asked...was there a...surprise party waiting for you?
Some things I love about Tiare:
1. She is always ready for an adventure!
11:11 on 11/11/11
2. She convinces me to do brave things, such as going on hikes and being a little more courageous around boys.
3. She is a happy and positive influence in any situation!
4. She captained our flag football team.
5. We went to many a basketball game, and cheered on Zylstra! (much to Thomas' annoyance). After he criticized him, that was the game that Brock kept making shots.
6. We shared great late night discussions.
7. Her and Thomas love Clue and Monopoly Deal! We play it all the time! And get very competitive. (guess we've never taken a picture of it).
8. Talking to Thomas and Tiare for hours every night in our living room was always really fun! I love that I never feel like a third wheel around them. They are pretty great- when Tiare was on a cruise during my birthday, Thomas drove to my house and brought me a cake!
9. We laugh so much together!
10. We share a love for Once Upon a Time
11. We get close to winning cooking competitions
12. She serves others! And Has a strong testimony. I always admired how she would go and cook dinner for her grandma every week! People love to be around her.
Happy Birthday Tiare! I love you!
