Monday we set off to Boston. It was somewhere around a 4-5 hour drive? We got there a little later than planned. Ate at the Cracker Barrel and stopped at Walmart to buy some umbrellas. Of course, I had to pick one that was slightly broken, and wait in line for a while to exchange it. By the time we got to our hotel (in Lexington I believe) and were ready to set off, a lot of things were closed, but we had fun nonetheless. Heidi's brother was real excited to be with us girls who were oohing and aahing at all the adorable houses in Lexington and Concord. I texted my mom "can we move here??" haha. I was in love with the adorableness and historicness of it all.
We went and saw the Minuteman National Historic Park. It's where the starting battle of the revolutionary war happened. "The shot heard around the world." You'll probably recognize this picture from your history textbooks:
The British soldiers were on this side of the bridge, and the American farmers on the other side..where this statue is:

Across the bridge where the British were is this statue:
I love history :)

On the bridge:

Did I mention it was raining? =p
The drizzle/greenery of the place reminded us of Pride and Prejudice when Mr. Darcy comes striding across the field.
If only
We drove past some famous houses, but sadly all after visiting hours:
Little Women- Alcott's
Old Manse- Emerson and Hawthorne
We also went to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, and checked out the graves on "Author's Ridge."
Henry Thoreau
Next is Nathaniel Hawthorne (The Scarlet Letter)
(Sorry these are so dark)
Next is one I really connected to- Louisa May Alcott. I really don't know how many times I watched the 1949 version of Little Women growing up. I'm currently reading the book right now (July 2012), and I'm enjoying it! It's interesting to read it after seeing two of the movie versions and how both movies picked up different scenes in the book to use.
Last but not least, is Ralph Waldo Emerson, who I believe was the one that Heidi loved...
By this point it was getting dark, and we decided to call a day on our sight seeing and find some dinner. We drove by the hotel and found a mall, and went to Chick Fill-A. Then we wandered the mall a bit. It was kind of funny to me in a regular mall that makes you feel that you're back at home, but you're like "hey! I'm in Boston (well, Lexington)!" Bought some snacks at a nearby gas station and called it a night.
